The Arthritis Foundation conducted a survey of Arthritis patients, and found that of the 2,600 people surveyed, 79% are either using CBD currently, have used it in the past, or are considering using it in the future. 94% of respondents who do use CBD said they do so to relieve pain, and sited that they chose CBD to avoid using addictive opiates or to wean off pharmaceutical pain killers.
CBD for Appetite
It’s common knowledge that THC increases appetite, an effect commonly referred to as “the munchies”, but does CBD have the same effect? Well, the answer is no, but, as the Washington Post writes, CBD still may help stimulate appetite in other ways. “CBD relieves nausea and can calm the nervous system and digestive tract. If you feel less nauseated, you may eat more. CBD also relieves pain, and feeling less pain may also boost your appetite.” Says Janice Newell Bissex, registered dietitian and holistic cannabis practitioner. Depending on your reason for not being able to work up an appetite, CBD may be able to help you.
CBD for Sleep and Insomnia
There is evidence to suggest that CBD can help you get a better night’s sleep. The American Sleep Association covered a few studies which showed that CBD does help you get some shut eye when you rest your head at night. In a study published in the Permanente Journal, 72 adult participants reported that their sleep scores improved 66% after a month-long regiment of taking CBD. In simple terms, CBD interacts with receptors that affect the sleep/wake cycle. CBD’s pain relieving properties also play a role in its effect on sleep. Consider using CBD as a natural alternative to synthetic sedatives!
CBD to Increase Focus
CBD makes you alert, lessens distractions, and can sharpen your mind. The guys at Gentleman’s Journal do a great job explaining how.
